Urgent—without your help, legislation currently under consideration in the House and Senate would severely weaken important bicycling and walking programs, undoing 20 years of progress that make America's streets safer and healthier. Congress needs to hear from you. Tell them to add a bipartisan amendment to the Senate bill that would protect valuable cycling and walking programs and to vote "NO" on H.R.7, a destructive bill that would revert America's transportation infrastructure to the unhealthy, unsustainable, cars-only model of the 1950s. It's easy. Just take a few moments and tell Congress to vote for safe, smart, modern transportation!

Webster Bicycle is sending a representative from the store(the owner) to Washington DC in March to make sure our voice is heard that we want to have federal funding for alternative transportation.  As gas prices increase and polution increases we need to have alternative ways to get around our neighborhoods.  We also need the funding for the health benefits of riding a bike.  Please voice your concerns to be able to make sure we still have the finding to build new ways to ride a bicycle around town.  There are many opportunities arrising within our community to have more bike lanes.  If we do not speak up they will not happen.  Feel free to come by the shop to hear more about what can be done.  I am available except for Fridays in the shop.  Thanks, Russ.

The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is the only federal funding source for multi-use singletrack trails. RTP is in grave danger in both chambers of Congress. This week, both the House and Senate are expected to vote on their respective transportation bills. Here's how you can make your voice heard:

Vote YES:
Call your Senator today at 202-224-3121 and ask them to VOTE YES on the Klobuchar amendment to MAP-21, or use this easy email form from the American Motorcyclists Association.

Vote NO:
Call your Representative at 202-225-3121 and ask them to VOTE NO on amendment #230 by Rep. Steve King (R-IA) that will eliminate the Recreational Trails Program.

Bike Stolen? Get It Back! - If you're unlucky enough to have a bike stolen, don't assume it's gone for good. As long as you can identify the bike (you did record the serial number, didn't you?) and you're willing to do a little leg work, there's a chance of recovery. Immediately prepare a flyer with a photo and description of your bike. Include any details that make identification easier such as special accessories or markings on the bike. Post these flyers on telephone poles, on community bulletin boards, at colleges, by bus stops, in short, everywhere and anywhere. Also, hand them to all your friends and let us know as soon as possible so we can be on the alert, too (sometimes thieves think they can sell stolen bikes to bike shops and we're always on the lookout). It may seem hopeless, but you have a reasonable chance of getting the bike back if you act fast and don't give up. Good luck!
